I bought the game, thinking the content would be very similar to what is already out there, just in a new area. I was a bit right, but there are a ton of interesting and fun quests. Bombing quests, quests where you become a bird, a robot, etc. It's not just "kill x amount of y" anymore, though that is sprinkled in there as well!
Having 2 starting areas is great. I went to one, it seemed very crowded, so I went to the other for a bit.
Death knights? They are fun. They have a separate beginning area and quest line. Can you skip these quests? I guess so, but you actually earn your talent points via questing until you leave the area. Much of game for this part is more like an instance, with those players on the same quest being in the same instance.
I think it would have been better to make the Death Knight a third faction who is independent of the Horde or Alliance, but I also understand that this might require other additions that they developers didn't have time to or want to make.
And a note to all you people who just rolled DK's: You quit being an evil character when you chose an allignment. You don't need to keep acting like a jerk in the outlands.
Got this for my boyfriend on his 24th birthday. Upon seeing him play it, I loved it too (28 years old). We often play it together, or bicker over who gets to play it solo. My cousins (ages 10 and 13) love it too. Excellent game, lots of fun, adjustable difficulty levels. Just save the game frequently, as it has sporadically crashed twice on our Mac. (FYI, we havent had ANYTHING crash on our Mac, which we have had for one year, so I'm hesitant to think the problem is with the Mac.) Either way, the game is fun and worth the $.
Ok so after years of making fun of friends who play, I broke down and now I am addicted to this game. Sorry guys for the years of jokes.
If you play the game regularly, sure it's convenient to sign up with the bliz plans. But, why pay the tax bliz charges when you can pay the same rate (or better, if you normally go shorter plans) by getting this from Amazon? Always makes a great gift, and never spoils in the mail.
Plus, with the recent release of the expansion (Wrath of the Lich King), your gamer may need a few of these.
I have played this game for around two years and have multiple level 70 characters and thoroughly enjoy it. However the game is broken (as of october 2008) and unplayable at the moment due to horrendous lag issues and server shut downs. Check out the forums for more information, well no information really, but you'll see the scale of the problem:
My advice is avoid this game and the new expansion pack Wrath of the Lich King like the plague until the game becomes playable again. Just thought I'd save you some dollars and whole bunch of frustration.
There's nothing super-dee-duper about this (hence kept to a 4-star rating), but it works great. No complaints for such a good price. I actually got a chance to try my buddy's throne after I got mine, and his was a bit more expensive, and I thought that his throne's butt-pad wasn't as comfortable as mine.
Works perfectly on my 2008 iMac at a fairly high resolution. The game is super fun in single player, and especially fun on multiplayer. If you want a first person shooter game for your iMac, this one is a must-have.
Have you ever seen a US Cellular commercial? If not, you're lucky because you're missing a stomach turning spectacle. The ads are engineered to pluck your heartstrings with some totally corny and improbable emotional story. After wiping away your tears at the heartrending scenario, you realize that they were just trying to sell you a lousy cell phone. They used a touching story about helping grampa find meaning in his life to pitch me a cell phone plan? I want my emotion back! What a rip off! I don't appreciate being tricked into caring about some dumb product.
"World of Goo" will not do that to you. There's just nothing fake about it to leave you feeling disappointed or underwhelmed. It is authentically beautiful in every way. The gameplay is utterly unique. The story is silly and fun and well written and creative. The graphics are expressive, colorful, and buttery smooth on my average computer. The music is hauntingly catchy. The sound effects are perfect. The two independent guys who released this game (their first, according to the press) are far cooler than the conglomerates that just churn out sequel after sequel after sequel these days, changing nothing but the graphics of their tried and true formulas. We need another run-and-shoot game like we need another smallpox epidemic.
"World of Goo" is just FUN. I stopped playing and now I'm overtired because it's three AM and it's past my bedtime but I couldn't bring myself to turn it off until now. I guess I can't really imagine how the game can go on for weeks like some of the other titles you can buy, but World of Goo is only $20 - that's less than half what most video games cost. If it's not the hugest imaginary world ever, that's not a big deal.
Bottom line, if you can operate a mouse, I promise that you will get $20 worth of fun out of this game.
I recently bought a macbook, so none of my old sims disks would work on my mac. I couldn't stand not playing the game, because it's the greatest game of all time...so I had to at least order the first disk of the sims 2 for the mac platform.
I received the item promptly and undamaged. A+ service!
This game can be called a beneficial game to play . Meaning in that it helps with people of all ages with developing problem solving and cognitive thinking;as well as being a fun game with great graphics as well. I have tried this before so I know what I was getting into and pretty much so have gotten pretty good at it.. I have played various puzzle games in the past. Dr Mario, Tetris. various online ones at pogo.com and such. I find this one to be the most interesting as it offers alotta variety and skill levels . From very simple to quite trying and complex . This game would be great too for children for helping develop those problem solving skills they will need later in life as well. Its great for adults for mind game type of games keeping the mind young, active etc. I recommend this game for anyone you won't go wrong it will keep you busy for quite some time. ITs not boring or anything like that cause its so much fun you can even make your own puzzles and have your friends or family try and solve the ones you have made. I plan on eventually getting the others in this line too. It adds variety to the gaming industry thats for sure.
